This past week marked an exciting milestone in my artistic journey: I officially submitted my work to the BBA Artist Prize. It’s a moment I’ve been working toward for months, and finally sending in my pieces felt both surreal and incredibly rewarding.
The Collection: Echoes of the Wild
For this year’s submission, I chose to present four artworks from my wildlife series, Echoes of the Wild. Each piece was created with the same intention — to celebrate presence, emotion, and the quiet language animals speak through posture and stillness.
The works I submitted include:
• In the Shade of Curiosity — African Wild Dog
A study of alertness and instinct, capturing the wild dog’s intelligence and ever-watchful nature.

• Elephants in the Savannah — Elephants
A portrait of connection and calm strength, inspired by the emotional depth elephants carry so effortlessly.

• Poise — Kudu
A minimal, elegant portrayal of grace and balance, with the kudu’s iconic horns and gentle stance taking centre stage.

• Golden — Leopard
An intimate, unguarded moment that reveals both power and vulnerability.

Together, these pieces form the heart of Echoes of the Wild — a project dedicated to the spirit and presence of African wildlife.
Submitting the Work
Preparing my entry was its own journey. Between refining details, photographing the artworks, and writing the descriptions, it became a moment to reflect on how far this body of work has come. It reminded me why I began painting wildlife in the first place: to capture moments that feel alive, quiet, and emotionally honest.
Whether or not the collection is selected, the experience of putting it forward already feels like an achievement. It’s a step toward growth, visibility, and believing in the value of the work I create.
What’s Next
While I wait for the next stage of the competition, I’m continuing to develop new pieces and explore the stories behind each animal I paint. There’s still so much I want to bring to life through this series, and I’m excited to share more with you in the coming weeks.
Thank you for following along on this journey. Your support means more than you know.
